"Rise from this semi-recumbent posture; it is most indecorous!"

Possibly my favorite play of all time is Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest.

My mother's friend, Amy Billings, recommended the movie starring Colin Firth and Rupert Everett several years ago. We both walked away from it a little confused and frankly, unimpressed. A while later, for whatever reason, we both saw it a second time and it has been in our top 5 ever since. This play is hilarious, romantic, and cleverly written. The movie is great (I highly recommend it), but the full play is better.

So last week, when my old roommate and good friend mentioned that her neighbor was directing this play for his theatre company, Utah Shakespeare in the Park, I decided it would be worth checking out. They did several free performances: two at the Orem Public Library and one on the BYU campus. It was very well done. Liz and I were able to get our neighbors, Janelle and Stephanie, to join us. We had a nice evening without having to spend a dime.

What To Do?

Here are some of our options for this weekend!

New Movies at the Dollar Theater in Provo: Gulliver's Travels (PG); Unstoppable (PG-13); Megamind (PG)

Utah Shakespeare in the Park is performing "The Importance of Being Earnest" at the Orem Public Library on Friday - It's FREE!

The weather is going to be LAME this weekend, so it will be a good weekend to get people together and play games.

Another thought we've had for awhile is to go to a Karaoke Bar... it could be fun :)

Let us know if you have any other ideas for us! Only two more days 'till the WEEKEND!!!!

Three Day Weekend Anyone?

Fun Fact: BYU doesn't have Spring Break.

Oh wait- but we do get President's Day Off! So it totally works out. Most students treat this extended weekend as a "Spring Break". People leave town and not much is happening in P-town. This generally makes for a pretty lazy weekend for those of us who stay in the area, and believe me- Liz and I did our best to keep to tradition.

Monday rolled around after a particularly lazy Sunday. Liz and I went to The Creamery on Ninth for some lunch.  The Creamery is a grocery store on campus where many of us who lived in Heritage Halls our Freshman year would shop. However, it still attracts the older students and various locals because of its Grill and Ice Cream.

I went ahead and tried the Sandwich and Sundae of the Month:

The Turkey Pesto Mozzarella Sandwich
&
The Old Fashioned Chocolate Soda

MMMMMMM- It was WAY good. But I also had an order of Garlic Fries and about half-way through the Soda, I was feeling the need for a nap :)

Liz had the ever delicious kid's meal. Which, by the way, Robin and I decided should have a name change. For $3.50ish, you get a hamburger, fries, small drink, AND a scoop of ice cream.

What kid can eat all of that?

I can barely finish it all, but when I do, it's definitely a very satisfying meal.

Just look at that ice cream! Who wouldn't enjoy eating ice creams like Earnestly Chocolate and Coconut Joy. These are only 2 of the 30 something flavors that you can choose from.

And here's a bonus: they are all made at BYU (which means you can't get them anywhere else).

The Creamery on Ninth East is always a great place to go for a good meal and a great time. You should definitely check it out next time you're looking for something to do in the Provo area.

Oh. And just as a side note, if you don't want to come in for food or ice cream, you should come in just to say hi to me. I quite enjoy it when people come to see me at work :) This really is  the perfect end to any fun evening, or as we have shown, just a good place to eat.

Watch out for a new post on Wednesday, where we'll talk about some ideas we have for the upcoming weekend. Maybe you'll see something to keep your weekend interesting!

In the meantime- I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend!

Catching Up

Sorry for the belated posts! We had a few weird weekends.
Two weekends ago, Liz was sickly.

So I ran solo without any definitive plans. First, I hung out with three of my favorite girls at BYU: Janelle, Jen, and Mary.
We ate at Wingers and then went to "Best in Music" and small Music shop at the Provo Mall. We browsed, made plenty of Hannah Montana jokes, and finally left as the mall began to close. It's a great shop. They have wall-to-wall sheet music and the pricing is very decent. I bought the sheet music for Phil Collin's "You'll be in My Heart", and also some simplified sheet music for the Sense and Sensibility soundtrack.

Of course, we didn't leave Wingers without dessert. It was delicious :)

After that, I went to visit my amazing friend Marissa. We went over to her friends' apartment and watched Ferris Buller's Day Off.
Never gets old.

I left the next morning to visit my Aunt and Uncle in Sandy and see my Dad who was in town.

Last weekend was another weird weekend. I spent another weekend in Sandy, this time to visit my brother who came up to Salt Lake City for his birthday. Liz and I had to do things separately.

Liz saw BYU's rendition of Cinderella.

I wish I could have gone with her. She said it was amazing. Unfortunately there was only 3 showings- none of which I could make.

I went with my brother and his girlfriend to see the Jazz v. Suns game. I brought my camera, but at the last minute realized that I couldn't take it in.

WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?!

Oh well. It was fun, except that the Jazz lost in the last half. So lame.

No definite plans this weekend- but it's a three day weekend, so hopefully we'll have something amazing to report to you next week.

In the meantime, have a happy Valentine's Day! Even if you're dateless, it can be a good day!
